Senior Research Scientist (Packaging and Test)
Summary:
This position is responsible for the development and improvement of packaging and testing for LED products. The successful candidate will be a resourceful, hands-on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical problems while managing multiple development efforts. The person should thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented atmosphere. It is expected that this individual has the education, desire, and ability to become a technical leader in the organization.
Shift: 1st Shift + One Weekend Day (Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs)
Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop next generation LED chip technologies for solid state lighting applications and coordinate transfers of these products to production.

Lead new product design and development activities, by interacting with marketing, process development, NPI and reliability engineering.

Support the tool selection and process validation for a variety of semiconductor singulation and test technologies such as dicing, probe, die inspection, die sorting, etc.

Interact with outside vendors as needed to develop and qualify processes and technologies as required.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Ability to multi-task and organize projects across multiple projects, departments, and organizations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing (Process and Equipment Specifications and Work Instructions).

Strong hardware hands-on experience. Extensive data analysis skills.

Self-starter with strong personal work ethic; must have a "whatever it takes" attitude.

Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to identify manufacturing improvements, manage change, and implement solutions.

Able and willing to support 24X7 projects.

PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science Engineering or Physical Science with 3 years of experience or MS in these areas with at least 5 years of experience.
Preferred Requirements:
-
3 to 5 years development engineering experience in semiconductor industry.

Strong working knowledge of SPC and DOE principles and methods.

Experience with databases and data analysis tools (SQL, Access, JMP, Excel, etc.)
