We currently have an opening for a Process Technician I-II within our Nitride Epi group. This position will be stationed at our facility in Durham, NC.
Summary:
This position is part of an R&D and production support team that is responsible for the characterization of thin films used in the production of III-Nitride LED products. The successful candidate will be a hard-working, hands-on, problem-solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges. The person should thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented atmosphere and be capable and willing to work in a team of scientists, engineers and technicians.
You will have the opportunity to support the team through accurate and rapid analysis of thin films using multiple techniques such as SEM, EDX, XRD, PL, FIB and optical microscopy. You will also be able to correct data analysis and equipment problems as well as communicating with “customers” from various departments and backgrounds such as scientists, engineers, technicians and operators. You will have the chance to track and maintain laboratory throughput to meet demands from multiple departments. As a result, you will be supporting 24x7 operations including off-shift response as necessary. You will have the satisfaction of providing contributions to laboratory improvement through recording best practices, making throughput suggestions, and notifying supervisors of equipment safety concerns. This will give you the opportunity to have ownership of equipment by notifying supervisors and properly recording equipment repairs or downtime.
Shift: Noon to midnight
Requirements:

Associates degree or equivalent experience in a technical field (military experience accepted)

Self-starter with strong personal work ethic; must have a “whatever it takes” attitude

Preferences:

Experience with characterization methods (SEM, EDX, XRD, PL, FIB, Auger, etc.)

Experience with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)

Failure analysis experience

Compound semiconductor experience, particularly optoelectronic materials
